Oat crumble with apple

Oat crumble with apple

Ingredients

● 1 and a ½ cup of finely flaked oats

● 3.5 oz of butter

● 1 tablespoon of wheat flour

● 2 tablespoons of brown sugar

● 1 tablespoon of raisins

● 2 tablespoons of chopped walnuts

● 4 fuji or green apples

● Juice of 1 lemon

● 1 tbsp of butter to grease the baking dish

Directions

Preheat the oven to 356°F (average temperature).

Melt the butter in a small saucepan (or in the microwave).

In a bowl, mix together the oats, wheat flour, brown sugar, raisins and walnuts. Add the melted butter and mix with your hands until it forms a crumbly mixture. Set aside.

Peel and core the apples and divide them lengthways into two halves. Slice the halves into half-moons. As you cut the apples, transfer them to a deep dish with the lemon juice and wet both sides of each slice (this will prevent them from oxidizing and browning).

Grease an ovenproof dish with butter and overlap the slices, all in the same direction, to form a layer. Spread the crumble over the apples and press down gently. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes or until the oat crust is golden brown. Serve warm or cold.
